Deputy Mayor of Łódź opens a new Onwelo branch in Brama Miasta

A new Onwelo office opened its doors with pomp in Łódź, with Adam Pustelnik, the First Deputy Mayor of the City of Łódź, and Dariusz Ossowski, the co-founder of Onwelo, in attendance. The event was also attended by representatives of Invest in Łódź: Marta Sakowska – head of the New Business Initiatives Team department and Aleksandra Cebelińska. The new office is located in the famous Brama Miasta in ul. płk. Jana Kilińskiego 66.

This is the seventh Polish city to welcome an Onwelo office. The opening comes in response to the rapid growth of the IT market and a need to grow the company’s team of specialists. At the same time, it is a natural next step, as we already operates offices in several of the largest cities in Poland.

“In our world, fraught with demographic, economic, and political challenges, cities compete for knowledge-based jobs. Łódź is becoming increasingly attractive as a place to live, work, and study, but also to invest and grow a business. The local IT industry has been experiencing dynamic growth and is now beginning to claim its rightful place on the tech map of the country. I am really happy Onwelo decided to invest here. I wish them success and they can count on the municipality to lend them wide-ranging support” – says Adam Pustelnik, First Deputy Mayor of Łódź.

Located in a modern building known as Brama Miasta, the new branch will use more than 1200 m2 of office space. Apart from enough space for work, the office will also have a special chill-out zone. The building has been designed in accordance with ESG (environmental, social responsibility, corporate governance) principles and equipped with eco-friendly technologies.

Brama Miasta is situated in the very center of Łódź, right next to the Łódź Fabryczna railway station, which guarantees fast and easy access not just from other neighborhoods of Łódź and its surroundings, but also other cities. The heart of the city, Piotrkowska Street, throbs with life just a stone’s throw away.

“Łódź and Brama Miasta were a rather obvious choice for us. This is a place that really puts its bets on Polish capital and Onwelo is a company built entirely with Polish capital. We were swayed by the city’s academic potential, vibrant IT community, and great opportunities for further growth, which get active support from the municipal authorities. The office will soon be home to 100 new employees” – says Piotr Kowalski, Executive Director at Onwelo, who is also in charge of the Łódź branch.

We plan on hiring specialists from Łódź, who are now invited to apply. Those who are yet to start out on their IT careers will get a chance to enroll in our Academies, i.e. the company’s training and education programs that prepare technical university students and graduates for their first IT job in areas such as software development, software testing, cloud technology, data engineering, and Intelligent Automation.

There is particularly high demand for software development specialists, such as Front-end Developers (with a knowledge of Angular and React), Back-end Developers (with a knowledge of Java and .NET), as well as Full Stack Developers. They will be collaborating on projects in FinTech and automotive industries. Of course, back office staff will also be needed.

We currently employ 700 people and counting. Who knows, perhaps we will hit the magic threshold of 1000 in Łódź?
